Al-Anon Chairperson's Message

Dear Al-Anon, Alateen, and AA Family and Friends,

I am grateful to serve as your Al-Anon Chairwoman for the 49th annual San Fernando Valley AA Convention with Al-Anon participation. I came to Al-Anon in January 2001 in Culver City, California, I moved back to the San Fernando Valley in 2012 and needed to find new meetings near my home. I was lucky to discover many meetings that call the San Fernando Valley home and after a few years, I jumped into service in my meetings, at the District level, and at the convention.

I have been an active committee member with the SFVAAC family for many years now and have served in many capacities including Marathons, Treasurer, Signs and Graphics, Webmaster, Pins, I’ve been in the skit which was a more than memorable experience, and I served as the Zoom administrator for the 2021 Unconventional.

I have learned countless lessons from my years in convention service, gained more friends than I thought I could ever know, and heard messages of hope and support that stay with me year after year. I can only imagine what awaits me this year as I serve as your chair and my program gets that boost that comes from being of service.

I look forward to this year of planning meetings, fundraising events, and fellowship as we work toward our goals for the convention in January.

“Service in Al-Anon allows us to stretch ourselves and to practice the Al-Anon principles while we connect with others with whom we can be ourselves. It is an opportunity to attempt something we can actually achieve and to gain self-esteem by doing something of value.”

Love in service,
